Wooly bully--it's our 3rd Anniversary!

Wooly bully--it's our 3rd Anniversary!

Time flies when you're having fun! And since we've been knitting and crocheting, time has really flown (just one more row, amirite?)! Our first order was placed three years ago and since then we've met many fiber friends like you from California to New York and everywhere in between. (Heck, we've made friends as far away as Australia, France, and Japan!)   And we've been busy! In the last couple years, we introduced our first yarn, Pearl's Choice, that quickly became our #1 selling yarn. It...

Semi-Handmade

Semi-Handmade

We know that some seasoned knitters are so fast they almost seem like knitting machines (we're looking at you, Hazel Tyndall). Today though, I want to discuss a different type of knitting machine which is, erm, actual knitting machines! Okay, you may be thinking, "Machine knitting--that's cheating!" That's not an uncommon response when handknitters are presented with machine knitting as an alternate fiber art. But stick with me because there are a number of misconceptions that lead knitters t...

Knitted Knockers Knit (and Crochet) Along

Knitted Knockers Knit (and Crochet) Along

On June 1, many our fiber friends got together at the Creative Ewe studio to craft for a cause! Partnering with the Santa Clarita Valley Knitted Knockers group, knitters (and crocheters) got out their needles, hooks, and yarn to make Knitted Knockers. During our craft-along, customers generously donated their time to make their first Knockers. Some speedy knitters have already submitted their finished prosthetics and started their next!

Hello from the fiber side...

Hello from the fiber side...

If you haven’t heard, this past weekend was the 5th Annual L.A. County Yarn Crawl. With over two dozen stores participating this year, it was a veritable yarn-topia for the fiberati (hurrah for made-up words)!

A Fine (Fiber) Romance

Since Valentine’s Day is almost upon us—I’ve been thinking about the last time I fell in love. It was about two days ago…and probably a couple days before that…and a few days before that. Now before you think me a cad, hear me out.

"This isn't the cure for cholera."

“This isn’t the cure for cholera.” That’s what I often joke to friends, students and customers when they are frustrated learning a new technique or stymied by the project that they’re working on at the moment. Maybe their crocheted blanket looks more like a granny trapezoid than a granny square. Maybe the magic loop method is seeming more mystifying than magical. In any case, I often remind, “This isn’t the cure for cholera.”

Happy Ewe Year '16!

Happy Ewe Year '16!

New Year’s Day is always a wonderful time for reflection and setting goals. As I look back on 2015, I see many changes some big, some small. Some happy, some bittersweet. Something else I noticed as I reflect back—geez, I have not blogged in a while!

A spicy drink for Thanksgiving!

For this month's signature drink, we spiced things up a bit with a version of the classic Gold Rush, the Ginger Gold rush. This is a fantastic drink for a cold autumn evening and a cozy knitting project!

I already introduced you to many of my favorite fiber tools and fibers during the My Favorite Wooly Things event. (If you missed My Favorite Wooly Things—read through my past blog postings for a recap.) Now I’d like to introduce you to some of my favorite wooly people!
