On June 1, many our fiber friends got together at the Creative Ewe studio to craft for a cause!
Partnering with the Santa Clarita Valley Knitted Knockers group, knitters (and crocheters) got out their needles, hooks, and yarn to make Kni
tted Knockers. During our craft-along, customers generously donated their time to make their first Knockers. Some speedy knitters have already submitted their finished prosthetics and started their next!
If you're unfamiliar with Knitted Knockers, they are a soft, comfortable prosthetic for breast cancer survivors. Many traditional breast prosthetics are expensive, heavy, and can cause discomfort. They also tend to be inconvenient as they require special garments with pockets and cannot be used immediately after surgery.
Knitted Knockers on the other hand are made from soft plant-based fibers such as cotton and bamboo, can be used with ordinary undergarments, and can be worn sooner after surgery. They can also be easily adjusted for size by removing some of the prosthetic's stuffing.
Creative Ewe is proud to support the Knitted Knockers organization in delivering these remarkable prosthetics to any woman in our community (and beyond) who would like one. Each time you drop off a Knitted Knocker, we will give you a 10% discount on the yarns used to make them.
